The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Aleksandr Gutsan, participated in the plenary session of the XXVII World Russian People’s Council on the topic “On the 80th Anniversary of Victory. Defenders of the Fatherland: Military and Spiritual Feat”.
The event serves as a platform for discussing social, cultural and spiritual issues related to Russia and the Russian people as a whole.
In his speech Aleksandr Gutsan highlighted that the topic of the Council deals with the most important date of this year – 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
“The feat of the Soviet people serves as a spiritual and moral basis, on which modern Russian statehood, our national identity and confidence are built. In the years of severe challenges only the unity of the people, the Army and the faith made it possible to defend the freedom and the independence of the Motherland,” noted the Prosecutor General of Russia. “We know many examples, where it was faith that inspired soldiers to defend their land, helped them to overcome difficulties and strengthened their spirit”.
The head of the supervisory agency reaffirmed the relevance of reflecting on the lessons of the past in the context of new challenges and threats, when Russian warriors are once again defending their native land against neo-Nazism.
Aleksandr Gutsan said that the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation actively participates in the implementation of important state tasks: “The prosecutors carry out a systematic supervision over compliance of the legislation in the field of defense and security of the country, provide for unconditional observance of rights and legitimate interests of the defenders of the Fatherland – military men, participants of the special military operation and members of their families. A special place in the work is given to the preservation of historical memory, overcoming attempts to falsify history, strengthening of spiritual and moral foundations of society and patriotic education”.
The Russian Prosecutor General also told that in 33 regions of the country, which were under occupation during the Great Patriotic War, the prosecutors prepared lawsuits on the genocide of the Soviet people. Following the court’s review, all facts of the crimes committed by fascist invaders have been established. “So that no one ever diminishes our country’s key role in the Victory over the enemy,” underlined Aleksandr Gutsan.
“Only together can we provide the future generation with a solid foundation of faith, love for the Fatherland, and respect for military valor,” noted the head of the supervision agency.
In conclusion, Aleksandr Gutsan wished the Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the guests, and the participants of the event strength and energy to accomplish their plans for the good of the Motherland’s prosperity.
