At the initiative of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Republic of the Philippines are to deport Zakhar Zverev, who is charged under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code (fraud).
According to investigators, Zverev created an organized group in May 2021 whose members were stealing funds from citizens, posing as employees of various credit institutions and law enforcement agencies.
The total damage caused to the victims exceeded 3.6 million rubles.
Due to Zverev's absconding from criminal prosecution, a preventive measure in the form of detention was ordered against him in absentia. He was also put on the international wanted list. Following the accused's arrest in the Philippines in March 2025, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office submitted a request for his extradition.
Our foreign counterparts decided to hand Zverev over to Russian law enforcement agencies as part of the deportation process.
