MEETING OF PROSECUTOR GENERAL OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION YURI CHAIKA WITH PROSECUTOR GENERAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA MR. SANG-MYOUNG CHOUNG

Today in Moscow the Agreement on Co-operation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Supreme Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Korea has been signed.

The document was signed during an official visit to Russia of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Korea Mr. Sang-Myoung Choung who arrived at the invitation of Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika.

During the meeting, the heads of Offices of both countries agreed to share information, co-operate in execution of international treaties on legal assistance and extradition, as well as to exchange experience in the fight against corruption, terrorism, arms, drugs and other psychotropic substances trafficking, economic crimes and high-tech crimes and other crimes posing a serious threat to the society.

The Agreement also ensures co-operation in training and professional development of officers, joint scientific research on issues of mutual interest, organization of workshops and scientific and practical seminars on topical issues related to the prosecutorial activities.

Moreover, Yuri Chaika and Sang-Myoung Choung agreed to promptly render legal assistance in investigation of particular criminal cases.

The two colleagues underlined the importance of enhancing the co-operation between the prosecution authorities of both countries in combating corruption, protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms.
