Today, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor KRASNOV arrived in the city of Naypyidaw of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. This is the first visit of the head of the Russian supervisory agency to the country. So far, cooperation with Myanmar colleagues has been limited to holding bilateral meetings and contacts within the framework of multilateral events. There were no interagency agreements between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the competent authorities of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
Igor KRASNOV began his working visit with a meeting with the Minister of Legal Affairs, Attorney General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Thida OO. Welcoming his foreign colleague, the Prosecutor General of Russia thanked her for the warm welcome. He noted that Russia and Myanmar have been linked by 75 years of diplomatic relations, which at the present stage are characterized as trusting and dynamically developing.
The Prosecutor General of Russia named the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Legal Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, which was signed during this meeting, as the foundation for expanding cooperation, including in the field of combating cross-border crime.
“We have concluded agreements of this kind with the competent authorities of more than 70 countries, their implementation is a powerful impetus for strengthening constructive international contacts, exchanging experience, best supervision practices,” Igor KRASNOV emphasized. – The Memorandum creates legal basis for gratuitous education of foreign prosecutors in our corporate University. I think it's very important."
Igor KRASNOV emphasized the readiness of Russian prosecutors to cooperate in the format of training events on a systematic basis on a variety of topics of mutual interest. The first field training events by employees of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia have already been held and aroused interest among the audience. The head of the Russian supervisory agency expressed confidence in the potential for pooling efforts in various areas, primarily in combating cybercrime, terrorism, extremism, corruption, environmental crimes, money laundering and other areas of activity.
The Prosecutor General of Russia invited Thida OO and her subordinates to Russia for a more detailed acquaintance with the work of Russian colleagues, determining priority areas for interaction and fixing them in the cooperation program.
The head of the Russian supervisory agency also invited his colleague to visit Vladivostok, where the next Eastern Economic Forum will be held in September, during which there will be an opportunity to get acquainted with the experience of prosecutorial activities in the field of protecting the rights of entrepreneurs.
Finally, Igor KRASNOV thanked Thida OO and the leadership of Myanmar for their consistent position on promoting Russian-Myanmar relations, wishing his foreign colleagues success in implementing tasks for the benefit of peace and prosperity for the people of Myanmar.
