The delegation of the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation headed by the chief of the Main Department of international legislative cooperation Saak Karapetyan went to London with an official visit.
In the course of the visit there were held meetings of the Russian delegation with British colleagues in subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Great Britain, in the British Department for struggling against serious frauds and in the Royal prosecution service of England and Wales. In the order of priority there were discussed the matters of mutual cooperation in criminal issues between the law-and-order bodies of two countries carried out in accordance with the European conventions about extradition and on mutual legal assistance.
The officers of the General Prosecutor’s office of Russia focused the attention of colleagues on the issues of the struggling against organized criminality, drug trafficking and corruption. The latter theme was of special interest for the discussion due to entering of the new law of the Great Britain “About bribery" into force in April 2011.
According to the results of the performed meetings there were achieved the agreements on cooperation in specific Russian requests for extradition and legal assistance, about practicing of regular consultations and bilateral meetings. The British side accepted the invitation for the return visit of Moscow in the nearest future.
The conducted meetings will serve for further strengthening of cooperation between law-and-order bodies of Russia and the Great Britain.
