In order to ensure the safety of the public and due to the increased number of recent accidents with gas installations in residential houses, including those causing human casualties, the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation instructed prosecutors’ subjects of the Russian Federation to organize verification performance requirements of the legislation in the operation of gas equipment in homes and other buildings. In doing so, they should be involved in the verification of technical supervision authorities.
In the course if inspection prosecutors were asked to pay special attention to the work of the organizations responsible for the technical condition of gas networks, their timelyrepairs and replacement of faulty equipment. Public prosecutors charged the subject of the Russian Federation to evaluate the work of the controlling bodies in the industry, the completeness and validity of the measures taken by them in regard to organizations that do not provide an adequate level of functioning of gas facilities. With the regulatory bodies’ participation the prosecutors will also check targeted use of funds, including those allocated from the budgets of all levels to develop gas facilities.

The Attorney General's Office asked the Russian prosecutors to check the enforcement of the law in gas equipment operations.
