On February 13, 2009, upon request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of Germany extradite Nsyan Mofsesyan, a national of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, to Russia.
The investigative authorities charged N.Mofsesyan with crimes under Article 30, part 3, Article 228.1, part 2, paras. “a”, “b” (attempted trafficking in narcotic drugs on a large scale committed by a group of persons under a previous conspiracy), Article 30, part 1, Article 228.1, part 2, paras. “a”, “b” (preparation for a large-scale drug trafficking performed by a group of persons under a previous conspiracy), Article 30, part 1, Article 228.1, part 3, paras “d” (preparation for especially large-scale drug trafficking performed by a group of persons under a previous conspiracy) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The criminal case against N.Mofsesyan is under investigation by the Investigative Service of the Regional Department of the Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation for the Krasnodar Territory.
The investigative authorities revealed that in 2005 N.Mofsesyan as a member of a criminal group delivered by car a large consignment of MDMA drug from the Netherlands to the city of Krasnodar for its further distribution on the territory of Russia.
In April 2008, N.Mofsesyan was put on international wanted list and in June 2008 he was detained in Germany. However, before receipt of an official request for his extradition he was released and then N.Mofsesyan went into hiding on the territory of the Netherlands.
In August 2008, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation sent a request for extradition of N.Mofsesyan to the Federal Ministry of Justice of the Federal Republic of Germany.
In November 2008, the accused was detained again in Germany.
In January 2009, the competent authorities of Germany satisfied the request for extradition of N.Mofsesyan to Russia for criminal prosecution.
Today N.Mofsesyan has been extradited to Russia under the escort of the Russian Interpol Bureau and the Federal Penitentiary Service officers.
