Today, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of Lithuania are extraditing to Russia Alexander Skrynnikov, a citizen of the Russian Federation. The investigation bodies accuse him of the crime, defined in Article 105 (2 "a" ) (murder of two and more people) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Due to the fact that Alexander Skrynnikov had absconded from the bodies of preliminary investigation, his federal search was announced in May 2009, and in June 2009 he was placed on the international wanted list.
In August 2009 Skrynnikov was detained in the Republic of Lithuania.
In September 2009, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation forwarded a request to the competent authorities of Lithuania for the extradition of Skrynnikov with the view of bringing him to criminal liability, and this request was granted in December 2009.
