Today, upon request of the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Spain are extraditing to Russia a citizen of the Russian Federation Pavel Zakharov. By the investigation bodies he is accused of committing of five crimes foreseen by part 3 of article 30 and part 1 of article 228.1 (encroachment on illegal sale of narcotic drug) and the crimes foreseen by part 3 of article 30, paragraph "g" of part 3 of article 228.1 (encroachment on illegal sale of narcotic drug in particularly large amounts by a group of persons on preliminary agreement) and the crimes foreseen by part 3 of article 30, paragraphs "a" and "b" of part 2 of article 228.1 (encroachment on illegal sale of narcotic drug in a large scale by a group of persons on preliminary agreement) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The criminal case against Zakharov is in the execution stage of the investigative division of the Department of Federal Service of the Russian Federation on control over drugs turnover in the Tambov region.
It is determined that in the period from September to October 2005 Zakharov has repeatedly sold out drugs (marijuana, hashish) to the person acting as the buyer while carrying out operational-investigative activities of the "check purchase".
In connection with the fact that Zakharov disappeared from criminal prosecution, in December 2005 he was declared in the Federal search and in May of 2009 he was placed into the international wanted list.
In January 2011 Zakharov was detained on the territory of Spain.
In February 2011 the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation forwarded to the Ministry of justice of the Kingdom of Spain a request for his extradition for bringing him to the criminal liability.
As a result of close and elaborated cooperation between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Spain the Spanish side in April 2011 accepted a decision about satisfaction of the petition for extradition of Zakharov to the Russian Federation.
Today, accompanied by the employees of the FSIN (Federal Service of Execution of Punishment) of Russia and the Russian Bureau of Interpol, Pavel Zakharov is extradited to Russia.
