Today, upon the request of the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Spain are extraditing a citizen of the Russian Federation Svetlana Kirakosyan. She is accused of committing of 7 criminal acts envisaged in part 3 of article 159 (fraud, i.e. misappropriation of other's property by a deceit and breach of trust committed on a large scale) of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation.
The criminal case against Kirakosyan is in the execution stage of the investigative department of the Board of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Kostroma region.
As established by the investigation, in 2008 Kirakosyan in the city of Kostroma under various guises took from people large amounts of money on credit, initially having no any intention of repaying them. So, from several victims under various guises, for example for paying mortgage for an apartment, for acquiring jewelry and for business development, she had borrowed more than 2.5 million rubles, and also, she had concluded two loans for amount of more than 700 thousand rubles. The received monetary means were disposed of by Kirakosyan on her own discretion.
Since Kirakosyan disappeared from the law enforcement authorities, in August 2010 she was declared in the Federal search and in March 2011 after receiving information about her location in Spain she was placed into the international wanted list.
In May of 2011 the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation forwarded to the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Spain a request for detention and extradition of Kirakosyan which was satisfied at the same time.
Today, accompanied by the employees of the FSIN (Federal Service of Execution of Punishment) of Russia and the Russian Bureau of Interpol, Svetlana Kirakosyan is extradited to Russia.
