The meeting between Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chayka and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic Jean de Gliniasti took place

Today, on the 23rd of September, 2013, the meeting between Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chayka and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic Jean de Gliniasti took place in Moscow. 

Leading officers of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation also participated in the meeting. 

Greeting the guest, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation marked that the Russian Federation and the French Republic are linked through lasting amicable warm relationship, based on mutual interest in strengthening of international security and building up of strategic partnership. 

Yuri Chayka expressed particular gratitude to Jean de Gliniasti for his strong contribution in maintaining of close working contacts with the relevant law enforcement bodies of both countries. As an example of such cooperation one can mention the Joint Declaration of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of the French Republic, signed in May 2013; as well as the Cooperation Program for 2010-2011 years, which was successfully implemented. 

Besides, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation informed that in November 2011 a bilateral working group of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of the French Republic on cooperation in criminal cases was created and is successfully functioning. In the course of the sessions of this group, the issues of cooperation in the area of extradition and legal assistance in criminal cases are examined, the Parties get familiarized with the national legislation and working practice of French and Russian relevant authorities in this area, exchange data on specific cases and discuss the prospects of further bilateral cooperation. The fourth session of the Russian-French working group is scheduled in Moscow in November – December of current year. 

The participants discussed the project of interdepartmental cooperation Program for 2014-2015 years, whereupon the French party delivered proposals, to be included in the program, and expressed interest in its swift signing. 

The Parties also touched the questions of cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and relevant agencies of the French Republic, including its prospective, questions of cooperation in the spheres of extradition and rendering of legal support in the series of criminal cases as well as the matters of prevention of corruption, securing the rights and liberties of entrepreneurs, fighting corruption, cybercrime, terrorism, extremism, organized and economic criminality. 

Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation highly evaluated the cooperation with relevant authorities of the French Republic and assured his firm commitment for comprehensive expansion and development of Russian-French relationship. 

In his turn, Jean de Gliniasti expressed gratitude to Yuri Chayka for warm welcome and the opportunity to share the views on a wide range of issues.
