As the single centralized authority for execution of requests on provision of legal assistance on criminal cases within the framework of the European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters dated April 20, 1959, since November 2012 the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation has been working closely with the competent authorities of the French Republic on the criminal case, initiated by the French side regarding murder of Russian citizen Mikhail Lanin and the assault to murder of Russian citizen Elena Pravoslavnaya (Aniskina).
Requests, sent by French colleagues in advance, as required by the stated above European Convention, were thoroughly examined by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.
Based on the results of the examination, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation demanded and obtained necessary information and materials. In addition, another active dialogue with French partners took place.
After receiving all the necessary materials in November 2013 the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation satisfied this request of French colleagues on their visit to Russia for participation in work on the stated above criminal case.
At present the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation sent all the materials to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, which was directly engaged in execution of the stated request, in accordance with the requirements of articles 151 and 457 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation.
At the same time the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation gave its consent on presence of representatives of the French side while execution of the request in accordance with article 4 of the stated above European convention.

The Prosecutor General's Office of the RF complied with the request from French colleagues on their visit to Russia to work on a certain criminal case
