Today, on August 25, 2014, a meeting of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika and the Prosecutor General of Hungary Peter Polt took place at the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation. The meeting was also attended by Ferenc Nagy-Rebek, Charge d'affaires of the Embassy of Hungary in the Russian Federation.
When welcoming the guests, Yuri Chaika noted that in recent years the cooperation between Russia and Hungary had been increasingly developing in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation thanked the representatives of Hungary for their visit to Russia to discuss cooperation and to participate in the Baikal International Conference of Prosecutors in Irkutsk on August 26-27, 2014. This event aims to find new formats of the prosecutors’ cooperation in Europe and Asia in co-ordination with international organizations to consolidate efforts to counter global challenges and threats to the world community.
In turn, Peter Polt thanked Yuri Chaika for the invitation and said that the interaction of the Prosecutor General's Offices of the two countries was very important for Hungary. He stressed that the topic of the conference was very relevant, since the fight against crime knew no borders and only through joint efforts in this area it was possible to achieve positive results.
The sides expressed confidence that the meeting and the upcoming joint work at the conference in Irkutsk would help make sense of the positive results of the interaction, identify ways to further improvement in order to protect human rights and achieve practical results in the fight against crime.
