The Court of Albertville granted the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation for the arrest of the hotels Crystal and Pralong located in Courchevel. The request that was submitted within a criminal case investigated by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in respect of the former First Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Region Government - Finance Minister Aleksey Kuznetsov and other members of his criminal group.
Despite the fact that French legal persons are registered owners of this property, the court took into account the arguments of the Russian side that it had been purchased with funds of Kuznetsov and his wife, Janna Bullock, US citizen, derived from criminal activities in Russia.
In its judgments, French court expressly stated that the hotels are arrested in order to ensure their possible confiscation by the court that would consider the criminal case on the merits, namely by the corresponding Russian court.
