At the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of Montenegro extradite Igor FOMIN for his criminal prosecution under Article 131, part 3, paragraph “a” of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (rape); Article 132, part 3, paragraph “a” of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violent actions of sexual character) and Article 115, part 2, paragraph “c” of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional infliction of light injury to health).
According to the investigation, in May 2021, FOMIN, while in his apartment in Novosibirsk, committed violent crimes against a schoolgirl. In addition, he struck the minor several times with a sharp object.
Since FOMIN hid from law enforcement agencies, the court chose a preventive measure against him in the form of detention. By order of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, in December 2022, he was put on the international wanted list.
The request for extradition of the accused was sent in March 2023, in connection with his detention in the city of Budva, Montenegro.
Thanks to the coordinated actions of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and close interaction with the competent authorities of Montenegro, extradition of FOMIN has been granted.
The Federal Penitentiary Service and the Interpol National Central Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation have been instructed to accept and convey the accused in transit through Türkiye to the Russian Federation.
